The DisOrientation Guide is a radical alternative resource that aims to inform UCSB students about social and political issues in the local and global community, and to facilitate involvement by introducing students to the numerous campus and community organizations working for social change. It is an introduction, a critique, a catylist, an invitation, a directory, and more!
The guide is produced by a collective of students and activists once a year (want to get involved?). All of the articles and artwork you see are submitted to the collective by numerous students, faculty, staff, campus and community organizations, or just appropriated and transformed from the environment at large as we see fit.
The DisGuide seeks to give different perspectives surrounding anti-capitalist, anti-war, anti-imperialist, feminist, gender-radical, queer, anti-racist, environmentalist, anti-ableist (and many other) struggles, and to serve as a forum for preserving our collective memory of radical histories and movements on our campus. The DisGuide also seeks to provide students and community members with a space to talk about what kind of campaigns have gone on, and what could happen next!
Finally, publishing a print and web based DisOrientation Guide for thousands and thousands of students every year is a lot of hard work. We like hard work! Hurray! Unfortunately we don't like the idea of not being able to publish the guide because we don't have the funds. If you would like to help fund the DisOrientation Guide please contact us! We always looking for another Engles to our Marx :)
